The
ketubah, or Jewish marriage contract, is an ancient folk art
tradition that has undergone a revival in the past 20 years.
Risa Towbin Aqua has been creating ketubot for over 15 years
and has a joyful, exuberant style. Each piece is suffused with
glowing color and full of life, with an organic integration
of art and lettering.
Her
custom pieces are contemporary and whimsical, expressing the
stories and values shared by each bride and groom and reflecting
their preferences for particular words and images. Ultimately,
text and painting coexist lovingly, serving each other well-like
two partners in marriage.
Contact
Risa if you'd like to know more about the process
of commissioning a ketubah for a wedding or an anniversary.
